NESTING MACHINING BY SCM
PRATIX N12, THE NEW COMPACT AND HIGHLY FLEXIBLE MACHINING CENTRE
The new PRATIX N12 is extremely easy to use and programme, thanks to the Xilog interface software, and its compact dimensions (5000 x 3700 mm) which still provide an ample machining area: the worktable measures 2440 x 1240 mm.
The mechanical "bridge" structure gives considerable rigidity and stability for dynamic loads travelling at high speeds, for excellent productivity and finish quality on the end product.
The multi-function worktable made of phenolic material provides maximum flexibility and tooling possibilities, having automatic suction cups with various geometries and the Modulset device for creating the required vacuum area.
For the machining head unit, SCM has selected the power and reliability of its own 7.5 and 8.5 kW electro-spindles, with top speeds of 24,000 rpm and constant power from 12,000 to 18,000 rpm.
PRATIX N12 is equipped with the new, spacious tool changer magazine which holds up to 20 tools and angle drive heads. The magazine extends along the X-axis, reducing tool change down times and so increasing daily production.
The PRATIX N12 can be equipped with boring units, up to 12 vertical independent spindles and 6 horizontal spindles.
A new feature for this year is the fact that the PRATIX N12 may be coupled with an Olimpic edge bander in a machining cell dedicated to nesting.
SCM has paid great attention to safety: a rigid Lexan cover provides maximum impact resistance and at the same time allows a good real time view of operations.
